So excited

Today I received news from a trust from which I had applied for a scholarship. I had long since thought myself disqualified - but not so. I have been awarded one which will cover what I'm missing financially next term. So happy!

London - I came and went

I went to London this weekend. Very nice but it went by far too quickly. I love checking in online. It allowed me one more hor with Linus. The stansted express being cancelled and one having to take a bus did really feel that good (time wise) but I managed to get there in time (JUST in time) and now I'm back home. Now wasn't this a most interesting entry? No?

Little bit scary

Today my dad got a pace maker. His heart is a bit slow and apparently he had a small heart attack this past Friday. He's feeling much better though and I'm glad they could take care of it so quickly.

I've started my new course: crime and punishment. Seems very interesting and am quite looking forward to the course work although it looks like it's going to be a tough term with loads of smaller projects. Will try to be a good student and do stuff in advance, at times at least. Will be getting up early in the mornings generally as I start at 8 almost every day. Should get me started, if nothing else.

It has snowed and it's cold. I hate winter. I want summer. Well, well, I just hope it won't last as long as last year's. That would be cruel. Am going to London this weekend. Will be nice to be ther with L without being ill.

Yuck!

After having come back home I discovered that something didn't smell quite as it should in my kitchen - wierd. I eventually found that the source was my fridge which didn't make sense as I had emptird it from perishables before leaving for England - what could have gone bad. I soerted through the contens and found nothing. For measure I decided to emptie the container i which condensated water is gathered (stupid fridge construction) and there I found theculprit. Oe of the sections was filled with a wite, lumpy mould and some black spores were to be found as well. Yuckity yuck yuck. I don ot understand how it happened. Anyhoo after cleaning the container out everything is back to normal and I don't feel quasy opening my fridge. Which is good.

Testing, testing

I have wanted to try this out for a while, but decided not to in the end. It should work - but maybe not. Today I pulled myself together. Violá!
It's been a nice day all in all. Meet up with Lovisa and Linda for breakfast, had my inroduction to the next course, had lunch with Linda and Rikard and ended the day with a hair make-over.

Survivor

Having been so worried about my flight I am happy to say it went all right. It might have had something to do with the double dose (against instructions) of sinus and paracetamol pills I had (didn't feel all that well later on). I got home easily (the flight was 30 min ahead of schedule!) and managed to unpack and so on yesterday. Today is about running some errands, studying a bit and trying to get well so that I can manage tomorrow's six hour exam.

Returning home

Here I am again, ready to go home again. Difficult - like being home, and I miss my friends, but I want to be with Linus. Hmph. It's been nice but a bit tough considering I've had a very bad cold/flue this past one and a half week. Am feeling better but my sinuses are so stuffed I feel pain just turning from one side to another in bed. Am very much looking forward to flying home tonight. Should be a treat. Am hoping that sinus pills and mental preparation (I know it'll hurt like hell) will help. In some way.

Pictures from New Years, Christmas and from astroll in Greenich are up now. Enjoy!

Not good enough

This sucks. My slight cold evolved into a near flue and I've been quite useless for a couple of days. Still am. Doesn't go well with studying for one's exam, it doesn't. I'm exhausted after just having done the dishes - despite sleeping until almost noon (well, was up 8.30-9.30). Am feeling quite anxious about my exam. Will try to do my best studying for it but if worse comes to worse I'll do it in February instead. Would prefer not to though. On a happier note I sent in five applications yesterday - cross your fingers! - and booked three flights (well return ones) to London. I leave you to get better acquainted with my notes.

Happy New Year?

This year hasn't started off that nicely. I'm ill (head full of sawdust and swollen throat), I'm stressed out from my applications (I can't seem to finish them) and feeling exam-angst (I know NOTHING). At least the end of 2006 was nice.

I arrived in London on Friday just in time for lunch with Linus and James. We went to a nice Tapas place and had lots of tasty dishes. I ordered with correct pronunciation, we ate with gusto and the waitress (bona fide Spanish gal) was as nice as can be. We learnt that "la quenta por favor" for the bill is not the only way to say it - you can also ask for "la dolorosa" (the painful one). Have to love expressions like those. Shopping (winter sales!) didn't go very well- couldn't find much of interest - but managed to buy a dress at Monsoon for New Years Eve. We celebrated the coming of a new year in West India Quay with Anna, Jamie, Aster, Adrian, Chris, Rosie and many more. Very pleasant. Now it's time for serious business - all work and no play.

Will post pics soon.
